The BalkansInsight reports that a poll conducted by Belgrade-based Strategic Marketing shows that 65% of the Serbs would not provide the authorities with information about the whereabouts of the alleged war criminal Rakto Mladic. 14% of the respondents said in December 2008 that they would turn him in, the others did not know what to answer to the question. The results are rather sad, given the charges against Mr Mladic, however, I still believe that the relationship between Serbia and EU should not be determined on this sole factor, and the Serbs should be given a chance to move closer to Europe. Serbia is still the key country of a long-lasting Balkans resolution, and if alienated by Europe, it could be a very distracting ally of Russia in the future.
