When Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia have entered the Schengen Zone, the systematic border controls were abolished. Two Hungarian product designers came up with the idea to design and install three special benches along these borders. According to their concept as unique border signs these benches will symbolize friendship and the sense of togetherness. The benches are standing on the borderline, one side is in Hungary, the other is in the neighboring country. The two half of the bench form a heart shape when assembled. The designers thought that sitting on them one will be able to wonder how we had lived a life limited by borders.
Here is a slideshow on the installations. The benches are located on the border near the Hungarian villages of Kercaszomor (Slovenia & Hungary), Szentpéterfa (Austria & Hungary) and Aggtelek (Slovakia & Hungary).
